Beacon Barbecue - Beef, Poultry, Pork, Seafood, Vegetables
Boston Spice's Beacon Barbecue has that smoky flavor from chipotle chili, paprika, and ground allspice. Like the neighborhood its named after, Beacon Hill, its flavors are truly distinctive. This blend is a real winner on beef, poultry, pork, seafood, and vegetables. But wait, don't leave the neighborhood yet, put this one on freshly popped popcorn (butter optional), and let your Beacon shine.
Beacon Hill was located in the center of the Shawmut Peninsula. The name Shawmut came from the Algonquin Native Americans that lived there. This peninsula would soon become the great city of Boston. In 1630, there were three hills located in the center of future Boston. In 1634, a "Beacon" was placed at the top of one of the hills and that hill became Beacon Hill. The Beacon would have been lit on fire to warn the citizens if there was trouble. It was never used for that purpose. The other two hills were called Pemberton Hill and Mount Vernon, but they were leveled during the areas development era in the early 1800's and Beacon Hill was reduced from 138 feet to 80 feet. Beacon Street, that runs in front of the New Massachusetts State House, was laid out based on a cow path that led to Boston Commons.
