Beacon Hill sits at the heart of the historic Shawmut Peninsula, which would eventually grow into the vibrant city of Boston. In 1630, the area featured three prominent hills at its center. By 1634, a "beacon" was erected atop one of these hills, giving it the name Beacon Hill. This beacon, designed to be lit in case of danger, served as an early warning system for the community.

Boston Spice's Beacon Barbecue captures the spirit of this iconic neighborhood with its smoky blend of chipotle chili, paprika, and ground allspice. Just as Beacon Hill is known for its unique charm, this seasoning stands out with bold, distinctive flavors. It's a perfect match for beef, poultry, pork, seafood, and vegetables.

And don’t stop there—shake some onto freshly popped popcorn (butter optional) for a savory snack that will truly let your "Beacon" shine.

Beacon Hill resided at the heart of the Shawmut Peninsula, a name bestowed by the Algonquin Native Americans who once inhabited the area. This peninsula would later burgeon into the illustrious city of Boston. Back in 1630, three hills graced the future site of Boston's bustling metropolis. By 1634, a "Beacon" was erected atop one of these hills, hence christening it Beacon Hill. This Beacon was intended to serve as a signal of distress for citizens, yet it never fulfilled this purpose. The remaining two hills—Pemberton Hill and Mount Vernon—succumbed to the area's developmental fervor in the early 1800s. Beacon Hill, too, underwent modification, diminishing from 138 feet to 80 feet. Beacon Street, now fronting the New Massachusetts State House, was laid out along a path once trodden by cows en route to Boston Commons. (Could the cow path story be real or an urban legend? You decide.)
