The Yankee Pickler - Corned Beef and Pickling Spice Blend
Get yourself out of that “What should I make for dinner?” pickle. Buy some of our Boston Spice’s “The Yankee Pickler” and grab some corned beef and you're well on your way to some delicious meals. Make the New England classic corned beef and cabbage, or how about some tasty corned beef hash to go with those eggs. Don't use that flavorless bottle of spices you got from your local store. Our “The Yankee Pickler” has 15 unique spices freshly blended together for that perfect pickled taste.
In colonial America, the pickle patch was an important part of life. Pickles were critical to America's pioneers because, under frontier conditions, pickles were the only zesty, juicy, green, succulent food available for many months of the year. Homemakers were expected to "put down" some pickles in stone crocks, and to "put up" some pickles and pickle relishes in glass jars.
Boston Spice Corned Beef:
- Corned Beef: Place a 2 1/2 lb to 5 lb piece of corned beef in a pot and add enough cold water to cover the meat by about 1 inch. Add 1/4 cup of "Yankee Pickler" to the pot. Bring to a boil. Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until the meat is fork tender. In a slow cooker, cook on high for about 3 to 4 hours or until fork tender. If your corned beef is bigger, add more "Yankee Pickler" and cook longer. Fork tender is your goal.
- Pickle your vegetables too with your favorite pickling brine recipe and use "The Yankee Pickler" as your pickling spice.
** To prepare corned beef with The Yankee Pickler, ensure your brisket has been "corned." You can either corn your own beef brisket or choose to buy a "pre-corned" beef brisket, bypassing the subsequent steps. If you opt to corn your own brisket, craft a brining solution tailored to your taste preferences. There are many recipes online. Include two to three tablespoons of The Yankee Pickler per gallon of brining liquid if your brining recipe incorporates pickling spices. Upon completing the brining process, proceed to follow our recipe instructions for the final preparation.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
need spice mix for gray corned beef not red.
Hello! You can use either of our "Southie" or "The Yankee Pickler" spice blend gray corned beef. If you are using already corned beef, you add either spice to your cooking liquid. If you are brining your own brisket, most people who like to "corn" their own brisket have told us they add some of the spice blend to their brining solution, then after the brisket is "corned", they add the rest to the cooking liquid.

can you take the Southie blend and add celery seed and anise? I have a pickling spice I love and it has all the southie ingredients but also these other two. Can not find this combo anywhere else...
Hi. Thank you for the question. Yes, we can do that. We can add the same amounts that are in The Yankee Pickler based on their amounts in the size you want or if you have a specific amount you want to be added, let us know. Please email us directly.
