The Sloppy Joe is attributed to getting its start in a small cafe in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1930, a chef named “Joe” added some tomato sauce to his loose meat sandwiches and served it on a bun. Some would dispute that story and tell you that the sandwich was made at Sloppy Joe’s Bar in Key West, Florida. There is another group that would swear the sandwich started in Havana, in Sloppy Joe’s Saloon.

Ingredients*: minced garlic, salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dry mustard, black pepper, cumin, oregano. *rice powder added to reduce caking.
