Boston Spice Ping On Alley Oriental Asian Gourmet Seasoning Blend

Chinatown is one of Boston’s most densely populated neighborhoods. It is the third largest Chinatown in the United States and hosts a broad and vibrant Asian community. This area was home to some of the first Chinese immigrants that arrived in the 1870s. They pitched tents in an area now known as Ping On Alley. To honor Boston’s thriving Chinatown, Boston Spice has created a perfect blend of 7 spices and named it “Ping On Alley.”  Similar to Chinese 5 spice, but we added two more spices to make it 2x better. This Asian inspired blend contains, fennel seeds, star anise, cinnamon, and of course Szechwan peppercorns. If you want to create the perfect stir fry meal include some “Ping On Alley” spice in the sauce. This spice will give your dish that extra flavor boost with a definite Asian flair and turn your fish, steak, poultry, noodles, or vegetable dishes into a culinary masterpiece.

The above historical marker is located at the corner of Ping On Alley and Boylston Street and states:

In 1989 Oliver Place was renamed Ping On Alley, 'Alley of Peace and Security,' in honor of Boston's first Chinese immigrants. They pitched their tents here beginning in 1875, and since that time this site has been central to the lives of a growing Chinese community.
"Until the 1950s, a communal roasting oven, used by residents and restaurants, was located here."
