The Battle of Bunker Hill was actually fought on Breed's Hill on June 17, 1775. The patriots started out heading towards Bunker Hill, but decided to by-pass Bunker Hill and head up Breed's Hill, which was closer to where the British Army would land. This was to be the first real battle of the Revolutionary War. It took the British Army three attempts to climb to the top of Breed's Hill and win the battle, but in the end they lost almost half of their soldiers in that battle. It was a victory for the British but it soon made them realize that this was war.
