Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood located south-west of Boston and was founded by Puritans in the early 17th century. Legend has it, that the name Jamaica came from Kuchamakin, who was regent for the Massachusetts tribal sachem Chickatawbut. We made this blend with the country of Jamaica and its culinary culture in mind, but as I said there happens to be a town in Massachusetts named Jamaica Plain, and with our Boston twist in mind, it gave us the name for this spice.
