Standing guard on Lexington Green, the town common, in the town of Lexington Massachusetts is the Minute Man statue. It was here on April 19, 1775, that the opening shots of the American Revolution was fired. Was it the British Army or the local Mitia company. To this day, we still do not know.
In 1711, the townsfolk set aside this small plot of land as a militia training ground.
The statue was erected in 1900 and sculpted by Henry Hudson Kitson.
