Boston Spice Plantation Portk Seasoning Blend for Sausages and Pork

Boston Spice has blended a great mix of sage, marjoram, chili, and cloves for you to make your own excellent tasting sausages at home or at your restaurant. We left out the typical fennel seeds that you find in most store-bought sausages. We felt they were not needed. It is best to freshly grind your own pork, but if you can't, you can use some pre-ground pork. We recommend 1 TBLS of Plantation Pork Seasoning Blend to 1 LB of ground pork. See our recipe page for a great Plantation Pork Sausage recipe.

They say that Hernando de Soto was the father of the American pork industry. He brought the first 13 pigs to the New World in 1539. The Pilgrims did not bring any livestock with them on the Mayflower in 1620. They did have two dogs, an English Mastiff, and an English spaniel. Around 1623, Emmanual Altham, a visitor to Plymouth, did report there were pigs present with the Pilgrims.
